How to Draw a Ghibli Character
Lets draw this Ghibli inspired character design together!
Feel free to grab the free reference sheet over on the course site below.
Meet Yorick, a character inspired by the Ghibli style.
He is a quiet somber type that seems expressionless at most times. He walks around the bathhouse aimlessly and doesn't do much of anything.
Head
To draw the head we start with a box that is slightly wider towards the bottom. Then we add 3 curves to the bottom section, one in the middle for the chin and two for the corners of the jaw.
Nose
To draw the nose we start with a triangular wedge (A) and two snowballs on the sides (B) then we add the bridge, nostrils and small circles for the bumps. If you are interested in these types of noses I have a longer tutorial in the Beginner Drawing Course over on JeyRam.Art
Eyes
For the eyes we have a circle that is slightly pinched in the corners, then a circle for the pupil. The eyebrows have a rectangular shape that is jagged and tapers towards the outer sides.
Lips
For the lips we have a box and two triangles for the upper portion and a wedge that looks like the letter āDā turned on its belly for the bottom portion.
Ears
When drawing the ears we start with a āCā shape and then add a small line to the open area of tha C
Hair
The hair flows up and away from the scalp and has a tent-like shape. Draw the hair shape using guidelines then draw the rounded flowing lines to give it an organic texture.
